Virtual Family Treatment Program
Behavioral health disorders affect entire families. We can help.
Substance use and mental health disorders cause dysfunction and trauma throughout families. While today’s medical system typically treats a single individual for substance use disorders, it is likely that the person receiving treatment is actually part of a family in which multiple people are experiencing addictive disorders or mental illness.
Numerous studies have shown that addiction and mental health disorders can impact multiple generations, which may be the result of genetic inheritance, learned dysfunction, or a combination of factors.
We offer specialized family programming to any family experiencing addiction.
NRT Behavioral Health Chief Clinical Advisor Dr. Michael Barnes created the Michael Barnes Family Institute, a unique two-level family program that provides education, coaching, and individual family counseling. Foundry Front Range clients receive Level 101 Michael Barnes Family Institute programming as part of their treatment.
Any identified family member can participate in this programming to learn about the disease of addiction, how it affects families, where to find support, and how to foster a recovery-supportive environment for their loved ones. All family programming is solutions-oriented and positive, not seeking to place blame but to help promote effective change for all members.

A Message About Family Programming From Dr. Michael Barnes
“The Michael Barnes Family Institute is the culmination of over 40 years of experience working with families to address family system issues and trauma and to end multi-generational cycles of addiction and dysfunction. This is my life’s work. Today, we help any family with a member affected by substance use disorder, regardless of whether they are engaged in treatment. Through coaching and education, we are seeing families reunited, relationships rebuilt, and people feeling better bout getting the help and support they need to live safer, happier, and fuller lives. Residential addiction treatment provides a unique opportunity to address long-standing issues affecting entire families. Our hope is that by using this time wisely, the treatment of one individual leads to the benefits for entire families and their friends and loved ones.” — Dr. Michael Barnes, PhD
